A Global Affair: Caring
for a Changing World
Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), an acute care research and teaching
hospital. The event is organized in partnership with the Minneapolis
Medical Research Foundation (MMRF), Minnesotas third largest medical
research non-profit whose mission is to improve patient care and
the health of our community through research and education.
A fundraising dinner, mask and silent auction and dancing. The masks have
been decorated by artists and celebrities. The Honorary Co-Chairs of the
event are: John McGill, M.D., past President of "Doctors Without
Borders", which won a Nobel Prize in 1999; Lawrence Perlman, retired
CEO of Ceridian; Ramon Gustilo, M.D., renowned orthopaedic surgeon; and
Sandra Vargas, Hennepin County Administrator. The Master of Ceremonies
is KARE 11 Anchor Diana Pierce.
Saturday, November 4, 2000, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The event is being held at the downtown Minneapolis
Marriott City Center, Grand Portage Ballroom, 30 South 7th Street,
Money raised from A Global Affair will be used for research that leads
to more effectively serving the health care needs of new immigrant populations.
Committee Chairperson: David Williams, M.D., Vice-Chair of the Department
of Medicine, is the Chairperson of the Steering Committee.
